Description
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded within the mitochondrial genome itself — one of the “mitochondrial-derived peptides” discovered in the last decade.
Research shows it translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress and activates AMPK-linked programs; published models cover metabolic homeostasis, insulin-sensitivity endpoints and exercise-mimetic effects in rodents, making it a signature molecule of mitochondria-to-nucleus signalling research.
