MGF (mechano growth factor) is the E-domain peptide of IGF-1Ec, a splice variant expressed by muscle in response to mechanical load and damage.
Research examines its distinctive role: where systemic IGF-1 drives differentiation, MGF appears to activate and expand muscle satellite cells first — the repair-priming step — making it central to studies of loading, damage and muscle regeneration.
